"Goodbye Billy the Butterfly" is a poignant play set in the Hughes Elementary School multi-purpose room, where six alumni return to reconnect and partake in a beloved town tradition. As they delve into a series of games, deeper emotions surface, revealing the wounds they still carry from their childhood.

As the assistant scenic designer, I collaborated closely with Isa Durand and Gabe Bate to craft a set that would visually and emotionally support the narrative. We opted for scrim panels on the back wall, allowing us to create depth and seamlessly shift moods with lighting changes. The entire set was designed to be fully movable, enabling dynamic transformations that mirrored the evolving relationships of the characters.
