For ASUCLA's production of Bright Star, directed by Anna Makauskas, I had the pleasure of serving as co-scenic designer, where I contributed to bringing this sweeping tale of love and redemption to life. Set against the rich backdrop of the American South in the 1920s and ’40s, we embraced the nostalgic essence of the story by tailoring our design to the unconventional space—a grand salon. Our set design evoked the feeling of an old-time attic, complete with a nine-foot tree and a small house facade featuring a porch. We sourced authentic 1920s windows from a house in Pasadena, adding to the set's period accuracy and emotional resonance. In addition to designing and building the set, I sourced and created numerous props, all carefully chosen to enhance the production's atmosphere and transport the audience to another time.
