Godhead is a haunting psychological drama that explores grief, spiritual inheritance, and generational faith through the eyes of Sharai Reynolds, a young Black woman mourning the death of her father. As she confronts unsettling supernatural occurrences in her childhood home, Sharai's journey becomes a chilling meditation on loss, belief, and identity. Written by Jazmyne Black and produced through the UCLA Film School as a graduate project, Godhead channels raw emotion and atmospheric tension into a gripping narrative that blurs the line between the sacred and the spectral.
As the Production Designer, I was responsible for shaping the visual identity of Godhead, ensuring the world felt lived-in, emotionally charged, and narratively grounded. My process began with an extensive location search—touring over five different properties before selecting the final house that matched our vision of emotional intimacy and subtle decay. I fully dressed the living room, kitchen, and two bedrooms, carefully curating every detail—from rugs and bedding to TVs and kitchen appliances—to evoke the sense of a home weighed down by memory and faith. Beyond the physical set, I also designed numerous custom graphics that enriched the film’s realism: a community college degree, take-out food ads, and a collection of intimate family photographs.
